The Promoting Innovation in Emergency Medical Services (P.I.E.) project will hold it’s National Steering Committee and stakeholder meeting on September 21, 2015 in Washington, D.C. from 9:00AM – 5:00PM. The project co-leaders from Mount Sinai Health System and University of California, San Diego will be present, as will representatives from the P.I.E. project co-sponsors at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, United States Department of Health and Human Services, and United States Department of Homeland Security. The findings and results from the public survey (which can be taken here), the California Regional meeting, and the New York regional meeting will be presented. The project team will facilitate a discussion of barriers and obstacles to innovation, and apply strategies and input from stakeholders around the nation to craft a strategy for overcoming those barriers to create an environment supportive of EMS innovation while protecting patient safety and maintaining appropriate levels of regulatory oversight. The all-day event will be hosted at the Kaiser Family Foundation’s Barbara Jordan Conference Center: 1330 G Street, NW, Washington, DC, 20005 (one block west of Metro Center).
